A wholesaler's dock sends out a bit of everything. A full pallet goes to a retailer's distribution centre, two cartons go to a trade customer across town, and a part pallet heads interstate to a regional account. Each needs a different service, and most businesses end up holding a different carrier account for each one.
Senditt is a managed freight platform (4PL) for high-volume Australian business shippers: book on Senditt's negotiated rates across 35+ carriers, and track and reconcile every consignment from one dashboard. We wrote this page for wholesalers and distributors who need pallet delivery every week, alongside carton and parcel freight, and want all of it on one account. A business that needs a single pallet moved once is better served by a one-off carrier quote.
Why wholesale freight cost more in the June quarter 2026
Road freight prices are rising quickly. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that road freight transport prices rose 15.5% in the June quarter 2026 because of strong increases in fuel surcharges, and by a record 17.6% over the twelve months (Producer Price Indexes, released 31 July 2026).
Wholesalers feel that directly. In the ABS Business Conditions and Sentiments survey for May 2026, 72% of wholesale trade businesses cited freight or delivery costs as a reason their operating expenses had risen, and 85% cited fuel prices (released 26 May 2026).
Those increases arrive through the same few channels on a wholesale dock.
- Fuel levies move with the market. Every carrier sets and changes its own levy, so the same pallet costs a different amount from one month to the next.
- Re-weigh and re-measure charges. A pallet booked at one weight and measured at another is re-charged after delivery.
- Split accounts hide the total. When pallets go with one carrier and cartons with two others, nobody sees the whole freight bill until the invoices are added up.
Pallets and cartons from the same dock
Pallets and parcels share one booking form, so the despatch team does not switch systems between a full pallet and a carton. Pallets, skids, crates and packs are recorded as the handling units they are, and each consignment goes on a service that suits its size, weight and destination. A carton top-up and a full pallet to the same customer can travel with different carriers and still sit side by side in the consignment list, each showing which service took it, when it left, when it is due and its latest status.
Interstate pallet transport on one set of rates
Interstate lanes are where a single carrier account shows its limits. Coverage, transit and price differ from carrier to carrier and from lane to lane. With 35+ carriers in the Senditt network, your team compares the services available for each lane before booking, on Senditt's negotiated rates. Senditt manages the carrier accounts, billing and support, so adding a carrier for a new lane does not mean opening and administering another account.
Getting pallet details right at booking
Pallet freight is priced from what you enter: the number of pallets, their dimensions and their weight. Wrapped height and actual weight are easy to get wrong when they are copied from a product master. Booking them as the pallet will leave the dock keeps the quote close to the invoice. Our guide to running pallet and parcel freight on one platform covers how to decide pallet or carton for each consignment.
Deliveries into retailer distribution centres
Large retail customers set their own rules for inbound freight: a booked delivery time, a maximum pallet height, labelling on a particular face of the pallet. Those rules belong to the receiver, and a pallet that breaks them can be turned away at the gate. Check each customer's delivery standards before the first booking, and use the delivery panel's location name, contact, phone and email fields so the carrier can reach the right person at the dock.
End of day on the dock
When the day's bookings close, the consignments are grouped by carrier into manifests. The manifest list names the carrier and service on each one, so the despatch lead can check that every pallet and carton bound for a carrier is on the right pickup before the truck arrives.
Connected to your ERP or warehouse system
Senditt connects to twelve ERPs, including NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Cin7, Unleashed, Fishbowl, Pronto, Infor M3, Odoo, Zoho Inventory, MYOB and Sage 300, and to three warehouse systems, CartonCloud, CargoWise and Linnworks.
You do not install anything yourself. Senditt's integrations team scopes each connection, builds it and hands it over, and it carries a one-off setup fee and a support fee after that. SAP, Pronto, Infor M3 and Sage 300 are custom builds scoped against your configuration. Expect two to four weeks from scoping to live, depending on the system, and keep booking through the form in the meantime.
When a pallet is re-weighed or goes missing
The published carriage terms cover the two things that go wrong most on wholesale freight.
Re-weighs and surcharges
Charges are as quoted at booking and are based on the details entered. If the depot weighs or measures a pallet differently, or logs a different item count, service or address, the consignment is re-charged to match, plus any surcharge the carrier adds for re-measuring, residential or restricted-area delivery, oversize items or manual handling. A pallet that needs a tail-lift or hand unload at a site without a dock is a common source of manual handling charges, so it is worth knowing which of your customers can receive pallets by forklift.
The mechanics behind a quoted pallet charge, clause by clause, are set out in our guide to what drives a pallet freight quote.
Damage, shortage and non-delivery
Senditt will run a claim against the carrier for you when you ask, without charging for it, and pass on any money the carrier pays. Notice of damage or shortage has to reach Senditt in writing within a week of delivery, ideally with the damage written on the proof of delivery as the pallet is received. A pallet that never arrives needs notice within thirty days of despatch. Carriers limit what they will pay, and the carriage terms leave transit insurance to the customer unless Senditt confirms cover in writing at booking.
Getting started
Book a freight review first. It is free, takes half an hour and covers what you ship, the lanes you use and how your team books today. After that:
- Your account opens with rates loaded for every carrier, so pallets and cartons can be booked the same day.
- If you want the ERP or warehouse system connected, the integrations team scopes and builds it over two to four weeks.
- Your despatch team keeps booking through the form while the integration is built.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to deliver a pallet?
Senditt does not publish a price list. Each pallet is quoted at booking on Senditt's negotiated rates, from the dimensions, weight, pickup and delivery details entered, and a freight review looks at your lanes and volumes before your account opens.
Can I ship pallets and cartons together?
Yes. A pallet and a carton are booked through the same form, each on a service that suits it, and both appear in the same consignment list.
Which ERP and warehouse systems connect to Senditt?
Twelve ERPs, including NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Cin7 and Unleashed, and three warehouse systems, CartonCloud, CargoWise and Linnworks. Senditt's integrations team scopes and builds each connection.
Whose carrier accounts does my freight move on?
Senditt's. Your pallets and cartons go out under Senditt's carrier accounts, at the rates Senditt has negotiated across 35+ carriers, and Senditt looks after the carriers, the invoices and the support.
Is Senditt a 3PL?
No. Senditt does not store stock or pick orders. It is a managed freight platform (4PL) that books, tracks and reconciles your freight across 35+ carriers.
Can we book by email or phone instead?
Yes. Email customercare@senditt.au or call 0433 173 504 and Senditt keys the booking onto the platform for you, where it joins the rest of your consignments.
How quickly can we start booking?
On the day the account opens, because carrier rates are loaded before you start. An ERP or warehouse connection follows in two to four weeks.
