A medical supply business delivers to receivers with strict rules. Hospital docks run to booked times, practices close for lunch, and an aged care home may have no dock at all. A delivery that misses its window goes back on the truck, and the clinic waiting for it runs short.
Senditt is a managed freight platform (4PL) for high-volume Australian business shippers: book on Senditt's negotiated rates across 35+ carriers, and track and reconcile every consignment from one dashboard. This page is for medical, dental and veterinary suppliers, device companies and distributors sending equipment, consumables and supplies to hospitals, practices and aged care homes.
Where medical supplies have to go
The receiving network for medical supplies is large and spread out. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare counts 703 public hospitals in 2024 to 2025. Of those, 29% (203) were in outer regional areas and 27% (192) in major cities (AIHW, last updated 8 September 2026).
Aged care adds thousands more delivery points. At 30 June 2025, 707 providers were delivering residential care through 2,590 services (AIHW GEN aged care data, last updated 29 May 2026).
Many of those sites sit outside the capitals. Around 7 million people, 27% of the Australian population, live in rural and remote areas (AIHW, last updated 20 November 2025). A supplier serving that network needs carriers that reach regional towns as well as metropolitan hospitals.
For a supplier, that geography turns into three recurring problems:
- Delivery windows are narrow. Hospital docks and practices receive at set times, and a missed slot means a second attempt.
- One carrier rarely suits every receiver. A carton of consumables, a boxed piece of equipment and a pallet for a hospital store each want a different service.
- Each carrier has its own portal and invoice. Customer service staff answering "where is our order" spend their day in several of them.
How Senditt handles medical supplies freight
Every consignment is booked through one platform, priced on Senditt's carrier agreements with 35+ carriers, and it is Senditt that holds the carrier accounts and handles their invoices and support. Your team does not open, administer or reconcile a separate account with each carrier.
A service chosen for each consignment
When your team quotes a consignment, the platform returns the carrier services available for that pickup, delivery and set of items, and the booking names one of them. A small carton to a metropolitan practice and a pallet to a regional hospital store can go on different services from the same form. The quoting page shows how rates are compared before booking.
Delivery details that get you through the dock
On the booking form, the delivery panel has room for a location name, a contact person, their phone and email, and the street address and suburb. For a hospital, that is where the store or receiving dock's name and contact go, so the driver arrives at the right entrance and can call the right person. Receiving hours and booked delivery times are the receiver's rules, so check each customer's requirements before the first delivery.
Regional and remote receivers
A regional hospital or a remote aged care home may be served by fewer carriers than a capital city practice. Because rates are returned for the services available for each consignment, your team sees which carriers cover a given address before booking, instead of finding out from a failed pickup. A pallet of consumables for a regional hospital store and a carton of dressings for a remote clinic can go with different carriers on the same afternoon, and both stay in the one list.
Specialist carriers in the network
The carrier network includes general parcel and road freight carriers alongside specialist carriers such as Cope Sensitive Freight. Which carrier and service suits a given item is a decision your team makes at booking, consignment by consignment.
One list for every delivery
Each delivery is listed in one consignment list showing the carrier's service, when it was despatched, when it is expected and its latest status, whichever carrier is carrying it. When a hospital store or a practice manager asks about an order, customer service answers from one screen.
Manifests and consignment notes
Booked consignments are collected into a manifest for each carrier, and every manifest in the manifest list carries the name of its carrier and service. Each consignment travels under its own consignment note; our guide explains what a consignment note records and why the details on it matter when a delivery is disputed.
When something goes wrong with expensive or fragile freight
Medical equipment is often expensive, and some of it is fragile. The published carriage terms are clear about what happens when a consignment is damaged or lost, and suppliers should read them before they ship high-value items.
Insurance is yours to arrange
Transit insurance or warranty is not included in the service unless you request it and Senditt confirms it in writing at the time of booking. For expensive equipment, check that your own policy covers goods in transit, or ask for cover when you book.
Claims are lodged and managed for you
If you request it, Senditt files and handles the claim with the carrier for you, without a fee, under the carrier's own conditions of carriage, and passes back what the carrier pays. Carrier liability has limits and short time frames. Damaged or short deliveries must be reported in writing inside seven days of delivery, marked on the proof of delivery where you can, and a consignment that never arrived inside thirty days of despatch.
Authority to Leave carries risk
Under an Authority to Leave the carrier may leave goods unattended, and the risk in them passes to you once they are left. For a closed practice or an unattended aged care entrance, an Authority to Leave may get the goods there but leaves them unsigned for. Without one, the carrier completes delivery by obtaining a signature from someone at the address, or by holding the goods at its depot for collection after a failed attempt.
Re-measures and dangerous goods
If the carrier's records differ from the booking on size, weight, item count, service or address, expect an adjusted invoice. The carriage terms bar dangerous goods from carriage except where the consignment declares them in full at the time of booking, they are packed and labelled to the Australian Dangerous Goods Code, and the chosen carrier takes that class and quantity.
Connected to your systems
Senditt connects to eCommerce, ERP and warehouse platforms, including NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Cin7 and Unleashed. The integrations list shows each one. Your connection is built by Senditt's integrations team rather than by your IT staff, it has a setup charge and an ongoing support charge, and it typically goes live within two to four weeks.
Getting started
It starts with a free freight review of about thirty minutes, covering what you send, who receives it and how it is booked now. When the account opens, carrier rates are loaded, and your team can book its first delivery on the same day.
Frequently asked questions
Can we choose a different carrier for each delivery?
Yes. Rates are returned for the services available for each consignment, and your team books the one that suits it, from 35+ carriers.
Is transit insurance included?
No, unless you request it and Senditt confirms it in writing at booking. Otherwise insurance for goods in transit is yours to arrange.
What happens if equipment arrives damaged?
Report it in writing within seven days of delivery. Senditt will then, on request, pursue the claim with the carrier at no charge and pass on any recovery.
Can we track every delivery in one place?
Yes. All deliveries, whatever the carrier, sit in one list, each with its departure, expected arrival and latest status.
What if a consignment contains dangerous goods?
Under the carriage terms it may be tendered only if it is fully declared when you book, its packing and labels meet the Australian Dangerous Goods Code, and the carrier you choose takes that class and quantity. Raise any dangerous goods in your freight review.
Can we book by email or phone?
Yes. Customer service can send an order to customercare@senditt.au, or call it in on 0433 173 504, and Senditt enters it on the platform on your behalf.
Does Senditt deliver the supplies itself?
No. Senditt is the managed freight platform (4PL) behind the bookings; your supplies travel with the carrier your team chooses for each consignment, out of 35+ in the network.
Whose carrier accounts are used?
Senditt's. Deliveries move under Senditt's carrier accounts at Senditt's negotiated rates, and Senditt is the one dealing with each carrier.
