East-west rail and road freight, plus airfreight

What Sadleirs carries

  • Rail spurs into its own terminals

The Sydney, Melbourne and Perth facilities have rail spurs, so rail vans and containers are shunted straight inside. Daily and express rail services run into and out of Western Australia.

  • Rail first, with road linehaul alongside

Full and part container loads go by rail between capital cities each day, and Melbourne, Sydney and Perth also get louvre vans for dense LCL freight. Road linehaul, from small rigids to triple road trains, complements the rail service.

  • Experience with dangerous and quarantine goods

Sadleirs keeps dedicated warehouses and says it handles both dangerous goods and quarantine products. Its HACCP and biosecurity accreditations cover handling imported goods and keeping food safe.

Sadleirs guide

Who Sadleirs is

Sadleirs is a 100% Australian owned group with its head office at 470 Belmont Avenue, Kewdale, in Perth. Its roots are in RC Sadleir, which opened on Cliff Street, Fremantle in 1895 as customs, shipping and forwarding agents, and which was bought in 1936 by Lionel Samson & Son, a business two brothers started in 1829 after landing in the Swan River Colony. Samson family members still sit on the board. The group trades as Sadleirs across four divisions, Sadleirs Logistics, Global Logistics, Resources and Packaging, and its carriage terms name Sadleirs Transport Co (NSW) Pty Ltd and Lionel Samson Group Pty Ltd as its companies.

Sadleirs transport by rail, east to west

Sadleirs Logistics is the interstate division, and its work primarily links the east with the west, through rail spurs and depots built for the purpose. Full and part container loads go by rail between capital cities every day. For dense LCL freight Sadleirs uses high-speed louvre vans, which serve Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Daily and express rail services run into and out of Western Australia, and at the Sydney, Melbourne and Perth facilities rail vans and containers are shunted directly inside.

Road freight and warehousing

Road linehaul supports the rail network from the depots, in anything from small rigids up to triple road trains, and Sadleirs says freight stays with it all the way from the shipper's warehouse. Sadleirs says it handles dangerous goods and quarantine products, and it keeps dedicated warehouses. The warehouses serve perishable food, agricultural, packaging, engineering and construction customers, hold HACCP and biosecurity accreditation for imported goods and food, and use a warehouse management system linked to Sadleirs' transport management system.

Sadleirs can come up in a Senditt quote for interstate freight, so it can be weighed against other carriers before you choose.

Inside Western Australia, the Sadleirs Resources division carries freight to the Pilbara and Gascoyne, including piloted and over-size loads, over-mass freight and dangerous goods, with pickup and delivery in metro Perth, Karratha and Dampier.

Sadleirs airfreight

The Global Logistics division sells Australia-wide airfreight, airport to airport or door to door, and says it has offered a dedicated domestic airfreight service for more than 30 years, with licensed and trained staff for shipments that include hazardous materials. For overseas freight it lists Express, Scheduled, Airconsol and Air-Ocean Priority airfreight, up to full aircraft charters.
