What Northline carries
Built for the north and the regions
Northline began in 1983 serving remote communities in northern Australia. Its network still reaches regional centres, small towns and remote sites.
General and palletised freight
Its national freight runs on road, rail, sea and air legs. A single loose item stays at 25 kg or less, and heavy stacked items go strapped and wrapped on pallets.
Barcoded, with proof of delivery

Northline guide
Northline's network and depots
Northline started in South Australia in 1983, set up to carry freight to remote communities across northern Australia. It is still wholly Australian owned, and its national service centre is at Kent Town in Adelaide.
The network runs from 13 depots in six states and territories: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, plus Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Broome, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. The Northern Territory sites go back to the early years. Katherine opened in 1985 as a link between Adelaide and Darwin, and the Adelaide depot began with long-haul freight to the Territory. The Kenwick depot in Perth takes B-doubles and road trains, and the Bundamba depot in Brisbane, fully running since 2024, adds linehaul with the same heavy vehicle access.
How Northline moves freight
Its national freight combines road, rail, sea and air legs, and reaches regional centres, small towns and remote communities as well as the cities. Alongside general freight it handles full and part container loads, project work and over-dimensional loads. Northline puts a barcode on every item it carries, lets customers see proof of delivery without asking for it, and sends notice of a shipment before it arrives.
Northline also runs warehousing across more than 130,000 square metres at its depots, an international service reaching more than 130 countries with in-house licensed customs brokers, and project logistics for heavy-lift and remote mine-site work. Those are arranged with Northline directly. Through Senditt you book its general freight service.
Preparing freight for Northline
- A single loose item should weigh 25 kg or less. Heavier freight goes on pallets, and heavy or awkward loads stacked on a pallet need strapping and shrink-wrap.
- Fragile, long or irregular items go in reinforced packaging.
- Engines and transmissions travel in a frame or cage with every fluid drained.
- Dangerous goods must be declared and carry the right stickers.
Northline holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and HACCP accreditation, and works with renewable energy, mining, construction, oil and gas, FMCG, pharmaceutical, retail and automotive businesses.
