Kwickaz Melbourne: how the business grew
Colin Hurdle founded Kwickaz on 7 October 2014 as Kwickaz Logistics, with a single vehicle and a single customer running freight from Somerton to Brooklyn in Victoria. From the start it set out to treat its sub-contractors and owner drivers the way it treats customers. In 2015 it added Kwickaz Express for a Victorian country network and brought in online bookings, in 2016 it moved to Rowville and set up distribution and taxi truck companies, and in 2017 the businesses were brought together as The Kwickaz Group.
Its history page gives more than 12 office staff and a fleet of over 200 across Australia, and its locations page lists a head office at Hallam in Victoria. Its freight terms are issued by KWICKAZ Freight Services Pty Ltd.
Local and country Victorian freight
The Local Division handles Melbourne work from envelopes up to multiple pallets, on vehicles that range from couriers, vans and trays to tautliners, flat-top and mezzanine semis, B-doubles, skels and drop decks, with hydraulic tailgates. Its country network carries anything from one carton between any two points in Victoria, and its country page offers its own customers three ways to use it: door to door collection and delivery, drop and go into its Rowville depot, or depot pick up from Rowville.
Interstate pallets and heavy transport
Interstate, Kwickaz runs general and express freight door to door to every state, regional areas included, handling palletised freight from a single pallet through to a full load, and it lists timeslot delivery to every state among its own options. Its Heavy Haulage division moves earthmoving and mining equipment and freight that only a crane truck can reach, using extendable trailers, container skels, pilots, crane trucks, side loaders, tilt trays and floats.
Storage and locations around Australia
Kwickaz offers short and long-term storage in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, taking in anything from a pallet to full truck and container loads, with container unloading, pick and pack, stocktakes and an online warehouse system. Beyond Hallam, its locations page names Canningvale in Western Australia, Parkinson in Queensland, Ingleburn in New South Wales, Kilburn in South Australia and Youngtown in Tasmania.
Quoting and booking Kwickaz
Kwickaz is mainly a business to business general freight carrier but will deliver to homes, and it takes one-off jobs. On its own site, the Kwick Quote form asks for pickup and delivery suburbs and a description of the goods and needs no account, and jobs are booked by phone or email to its radio room, which also answers questions about where a pickup or delivery is. Its own terms say dangerous goods are not shipped without its prior written approval.
Through Senditt, Kwickaz can come up next to other carriers for the same consignment, and once booked its label and tracking sit in the same Senditt login as the rest of your freight.
