Who Followmont Transport is
Followmont Transport began in 1984 with magazine deliveries run from a small office at Stones Corner in Brisbane. It is still a Queensland family business. Mark Tobin, who bought into the company and joined its board in 2006, is Managing Director, Ross Longmire is Chief Executive, and Ben Tobin, from the second generation of the Followmont family, is Chief Commercial Officer.
Where Followmont delivers
Followmont says it delivers express freight to every corner of Queensland and New South Wales each day, with more than 1,000 vehicles and a network of linehaul and local contractors. In New South Wales its depot list covers Erskine Park in Sydney, Beresfield near Newcastle, Berkeley Vale on the Central Coast and Westdale in Tamworth. In south-east Queensland it names Eagle Farm in Brisbane, Arundel on the Gold Coast, Yandina on the Sunshine Coast and Torrington in Toowoomba.
Further north and west the list also takes in Rockhampton, Mount Isa, Longreach, Barcaldine, Hughenden, Cloncurry, Emerald, Moranbah, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Gladstone, Bowen, Ingham and Innisfail. Its commercial chief describes the reach as running from the Tablelands to Mount Isa and from Cooktown down to Goondiwindi.
Followmont in Townsville, Mackay and Cairns
Followmont's North Queensland depots include Townsville at 10 Everett Street in Bohle, Mackay at 115 Diesel Drive in Paget, and Cairns at 25 Ponzo Street in Woree. Followmont can come up in a Senditt quote for freight to those cities, and the quote compares carriers before you book.
What Followmont carries
Its speciality is time-sensitive work. That means cartons and pallets, fresh produce, and special project freight such as full loads into rural and regional towns. It also moves mining equipment, pharmaceuticals, spare parts, paint and mail, and its terms refer to oversized freight such as uncrated machinery. Followmont counts more than 20,000 customers in the two states, from manufacturers and wholesalers to retailers, and offers anything from warehousing and logistics to a single delivery.
Dangerous goods, packing and pallets
Followmont carries dangerous goods and abides by the Australian Dangerous Goods Code. The shipper lists the name, class, UN number, packages and quantity on the docket, with an Emergency Procedures Guide attached. Its terms ask for large items, and anything over 30kg, to be strapped to a skid or pallet, and items that are not correctly labelled and packed will not be carried. Its own pallet policy says it prefers its customers with CHEP or Loscam accounts to exchange pallets at pickup; if its driver cannot supply enough pallets to swap, the customer is given a Pallet Movement Docket.
Followmont tracking and track and trace
Followmont's homepage carries a Track Your Shipment box, and its public Track and Trace page has a search box for finding your freight. Book Followmont through Senditt and the consignment is tracked from the same dashboard as the rest of your freight.
