On DHL's Australian site, DHL Express is the business for documents and parcels: door to door, courier delivered and time definite, to more than 220 countries and territories. The same site also carries DHL eCommerce for residential deliveries and returns, DHL Global Forwarding for air, road, ocean and rail cargo, and DHL Supply Chain for warehousing and 3PL work. DHL sorts its delivery services into export, import and domestic. On the export side, Express Worldwide takes documents, packages and pallets and delivers worldwide, while Express 12:00 and Express 9:00 carry documents and packages to major business centres, and Express Envelope is for documents only. All of them are delivered door to door by DHL's couriers. DHL's own product table lists proactive delivery notifications as standard on Express 9:00 and available on request for the others.

DHL also sells services directly to its own customers that are not part of a Senditt booking. For imports it lists Express 09:00, Express 12:00 and Express Worldwide, with Economy Select for imports that are less urgent. Heavy Weight Express handles pieces from 50 kg to 1,000 kg, up to 3,000 kg in one shipment, and DHL Medical Express moves life sciences and healthcare goods at ambient, chilled, frozen or ultra-deep-frozen temperatures.

Prohibited goods are never carried, among them live animals, human remains or ashes, bullion, cash, loose precious stones, complete firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs and counterfeit goods. Restricted items travel only once DHL has approved them in writing. DHL lists e-cigarettes, antiques and fine art, and jewellery and watches over certain value thresholds among the items that may require its approval. Most dangerous goods need DHL's pre-approval, and for dangerous goods DHL applies IATA rules on all of its air services.

For customs, DHL Express has more than 1,000 specialists around the world. Most international shipments need at least a commercial or proforma invoice, and its free MyGTS tools include AI-generated HS codes and a planner that estimates duties and taxes.

DHL's own tracking tool takes the 10-digit waybill number with no account or password, and shows current status, the estimated delivery date and scan history. Several numbers can be entered together, split by tabs, commas, spaces or semicolons, and tracking begins once DHL has scanned and processed the shipment.

ServicePoints are DHL's own drop-off locations, including high street shops, where DHL's customers bring prepared shipments, and DHL Lockers serve the same purpose. DHL asks that packages arrive unsealed so its staff can check the contents.
