Aramex guide
From Fastway to Aramex
The business began as Fastway Couriers, started in New Zealand in 1983 by Bill McGowan, and it has run in Australia since 1993. Fastway later joined Aramex, a logistics group based in Dubai, and in 2019 it began the change of name to Aramex Australia. The franchise model it was built on stayed the same.
How the Aramex network is run
Aramex describes 29 regional franchises and more than 800 franchisees, spread from Cairns in the north to Perth in the west. A regional franchisee runs the courier depot for its own exclusive territory and supports the courier franchisees who work in it, and each business in the network is independently owned and operated. Its depot list covers Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Perth, and regional centres such as Albury, Newcastle, Wollongong, Geelong, Ballarat, Toowoomba, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Launceston and Devonport. An address outside the network costs extra, because another carrier finishes the delivery.
Aramex delivery choices
- Authority to Leave: the courier leaves it somewhere safe at the address, or takes it to the nearest collection point or depot if there is none. Aramex suggests it for parcels of low value.
- Standard: the courier gets a signature when it can, and otherwise leaves the parcel safely.
- Signature: a signature is required. If no one can sign, the parcel goes to the nearest collection point and the receiver is told by SMS or email.
- Secure PIN: the receiver gets a PIN by SMS or email and gives it to the courier.
Under its conditions of carriage, a GPS pin drop or a photo at the address counts as delivery, as does a signature when a signature service was bought.
Aramex size limits and items it will not carry
A single parcel can weigh up to 25 kg dead weight or 40 kg cubic weight, whichever is greater, and no item can be longer than 2 metres including packaging. Firearms, ammunition, dangerous goods and vaping products are among the items Aramex will not carry.

Aramex questions
Is Aramex the same company as Fastway Couriers?
Yes. Fastway Couriers began in New Zealand in 1983 and in Australia in 1993, later joined the Aramex group, and started its change of name to Aramex Australia in 2019. The local franchise model stayed.
How heavy can an Aramex parcel be?
Aramex's conditions of carriage set the limit for a single parcel at 25 kg dead weight or 40 kg cubic weight, whichever is greater. A parcel cannot be longer than 2 metres including packaging.
Can I book Aramex with Authority to Leave?
Yes. Senditt books Aramex parcels with Authority to Leave or with a signature on delivery, on Senditt's negotiated rates, and the label and tracking sit in the same login as the rest of the carriers you use.
